War Savings and Christmas Greetings for This Season
Thousands of Canadians can give War Savings Stamps and Certificates as Christmas gifts with a new series of 1942 War Savings Stamp Christmas cards. The National War Finance Committee and Canadian Greeting Card industry arranged five color cards with color interiors and a space for stamps, plus Christmas Greeting cards for Savings Stamps and Certificates envelopes. Cards, stamps, and certificates are available free of charge at post offices and banks, with stamps purchased at stores carrying the cards and placed inside.

Gasoline thefts traced Acton youth sentenced
In Acton Police Court, 17 year old Donald Palmer pleaded guilty to two counts of siphoning gasoline from Leo Roach’s car. Magistrate Ween Lowe placed him on a one year suspended sentence with regular reporting to the Chief of Police and street curfew until 9 30 pm. He was ordered to dispose of his car immediately and warned that further crimes would bring immediate sentences.

Fire destroys Wolfe farm barn and crops at Streetsville
A Thursday night blaze destroyed a barn and crop on the J. W. Wolfe farm near Streetsville Acton. The loss included more than 1000 bushels of grain and 6% tons of hay with eighteen pigs killed and cattle horses saved. Davis who ran to raise help led a bucket brigade but neighbors could not save the barn. Fire chief Leonard Lee called the blaze beyond control as wind aided limited house and outbuilding protection.

Women’s Institute Social Night at Mrs Lovell’s

On Monday another shipment of supplies was sent from Acton headquarters to the Acton district. The consignment included sterile caps, medical gear, wage wear, and related items for relief efforts.
