Stolen Bonds Recovered After Tip Off
Toronto Metro detectives recovered bonds stolen from the home of Mr and Mrs Ken Blow on Knox Ave after a tip from undisclosed sources. New United Church Dedication Marks Historic Move

The County Court of Revision led by Alex Near met for assessment appeals from Acton ratepayers at the town hall. It granted reductions totaling 5 854.22 on land and 250 on business and building values, and increased one land assessment by 1 075 for United Gas. Odd hit and run injures cars near Acton on Highway 7
North Halton's O.P.I. reports an odd hit and run Friday morning causing 300 dollars in damage to two of three cars. Constable Al Miles says a cement truck approached Acton west of Lawn, traffic slowed, a rear vehicle hit and rolled backward into the Joynt car driven by John Joynt of Lucknow and James Wesgo of Wainwright Alberta, the second driver, with the third vehicle still missing the driver.

By law changes approved for garage erection and zone reclassifications

Highway 401 Section Opens North of Milton
The 317 mile Highway 401 expansion reaches from Highway 25 north of Milton northwest to Highway 8 to mark the opening today. Hon. John Root MPP for Wellington Dufferin and Minister of Highways J. J. Winter MP for Waterloo North Leader of the Opposition Fred M Cass QC attend a 2 30 pm ceremony at the Presiom Kitchener Interchange where Highway 401 crosses Highway 8. They will drive a Conestoga wagon through the ribbon to officially open the highway.

Gas Water Heater Flame Ignites Paint Fumes
A fire at C. K. Browne's Main Street store started when a gas hot water heater ignited paint fumes in the basement. Harvey Palmer, painting, triggered the blaze as the flame spread the fumes. firefighters used a smoke ejector to clear smoke after the fire burned out. A crowd gathered along the highway as responders worked.

Lightning Bolt Strikes Electrician During Home Repair
Mel Jordan and his assistant worked on a Rockwood home electrical service when the main switch was shut off. A sudden bolt of lightning blasted through the room, blew out the switch, and narrowly missed striking Jordan. The assistant reacted in shock, accusing the electrician of a short circuit.
