Fire poster winners named for 1965 Halton contest

Fire Prevention Poster Winners Named in Halton Contest
The ninth annual Grade II fire prevention poster contest sponsored by the Toronto Fire Prevention Bureau drew thousands of entries from elementary and separate schools. Ten finalists from each fire area advanced to final judging with four students receiving honorable mention certificates and a silver dollar. Provincial results will feed into Ontario contests next year, following Halton County precedents.

A successful bazaar and tea were held in the Sunday School room of Eden Mills Presbyterian Church last Wednesday afternoon. Presidents and hosts led by Mrs. Beryl Wright and Mrs. J. Taylor greeted guests. Activities included a euchre event under Scout Group Committee auspices on Saturday evening with prizes for ladies and gents. Notable attendees included Mr. W. Mrs S Swackhammer died at home on Monday November 1 at age 74. Born February 26 1891 in Toronto she was first married to James Robert Hepburn and later to Stanley J Swackhammer who survives. Surviving children include Ker mit Hepburn Erin Russell Hep burn Rockwood Vincent Hep burn Acton Bever beomm Milton Ronald Hepburn Woodbridge Nelson Hepburn Acton and June Le Bar Guielph plus 26 grandchildren and a sister Thelma McLean of Toronto. The family moved from Everton to Acton 20 years ago.
