Ontario county plowmen gathered for the Halton match on the Newell farm Nelson Township with judges praising the work despite unfavourable weather. A banquet at Milton Town Hall featured speeches by local officials and prize presentations. The event ended with Auld Lang Syne as many awards were announced for multiple classes and special prizes.

Quick Change Racket Traced in Acton
A couple of strangers tried a change racket on an Acton merchant last week. One bought for ten cents and took change for a ten dollar bill, then another offered five dollars, returned with small bills, and claimed the large bill back. The merchant ejected him, and the car and license plate were reported to police who investigate.

Acton honors Remembrance Day with a morning service at the Soldiers’ Monument. The parade from Town Hall to the monument included Legionnaires, Lorne Rifles, Scouts, WWI groups, and women’s institutes. Farm Barn Fire Destroys Mannen Property at Crewasons Corners
Sunday evening a fire completely destroyed the barn on David Mannen’s farm at Crewasons Corners. Neighbors spotted the blaze around 7 45 PM as hay straw and grain crop were burned. No livestock remained in the building. the wooden structure was in fair condition and the farmhouse had been rebuilt years earlier. The fire drew a large crowd and traffic along Highway No 7, with flames visible for miles.
