Peter Opychany 22 of Oshawa was found guilty of criminal negligence and not guilty of manslaughter after a jury trial in Milton. At the Halton Plowmen's Association annual event on Wm Near's farm near Hornby, 74 plowboys competed before an estimated crowd of 2000 to 3000. United Young People Enter Attendance Contest
The Young People’s Union of the United Church held a Monday evening meeting led by Dr Cullen Mbs with Lambert opening prayers. readings on Mum’s and Manners were given. a hymn was sung and several readings discussed what makes a real man. First of Season Band Concert Opens Acton Series
Acton Citizens' Band presented the first fall and winter concert in the Town Hall to an appreciative audience. G Wilcox of Georgetown played cornet solos and was well received. A tribute to Tom Robson, late drummer, preceded the program. E E Barr chaired and praised the band for its Aurora competition win. Rockalong Institute Holds November Meeting at Rockwood Home
The Rockalong Institute met at Mr. Plank’s Rockwood home for its November session with President Mrs. D. McNabb in charge. Auld Lang Syne opened the meeting, Doris Watson was chosen as delegate to the annual Convention, and plans were made to invite other members for one day. Mrs. Harris chaired, spoke on the motto Listening to an Art, and led two Scotch contests won by Miss Masales and Mrs. Dunbar. Eramosa Branch girls Mya McDougal and Milas Buckland demonstrated hat stand making and other crafts. William Leon presented papers on Rural Opportunities and The Sunny Ride of Life, read Burns poems, and the group expressed thanks to the hostess and helpers.
