Mutual Fire Insurance Companies of Ontario will raise four thousand dollars for an ambulance for the Red Cross. After the purchase, any remaining funds go to Red Cross. Halton Union Farmers' Mutual Fire Insurance Company approved a seventy five dollar contribution at the October meeting.

Acton Young People Injured in Car Crash Sunday
Pte. Leo Close and Miss Margaret Sinclair of Acton suffered severe injuries when their car collided with a telephone pole just east of Acton on the highway early Sunday morning. Both were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph for treatment, with Miss Sinclair receiving the more serious injuries. The crash caused facial injuries and possible internal harm as the windshield shattered and the vehicle was badly damaged.

Prize Winners Halton Plowing Match Friday
Adverse weather reduced entries at the Halton Plowing Match held on W. R. Hume’s Nelson Township farm last Friday. Thirty seven contestants toiled for awards including the Bank of Commerce Trophy won by Harold Picket of Hornby, with Grant Baker of Freeman earning the Bank of Nova Scotia trophy. Awards covered multiple classes and tractors with Vernon McArthur of Milton taking the P D Salter Special Tractor Class. The banquet in Milton Town Hall featured remarks by Victor Hall and praise for John Lister and Hanna Picket as Open Jointer Class standouts at the International.

Missing Farm Laborer Found Hanged Near Burned Barn
Scott Rosendale, a farm laborer for J. J. Thompson of Stewarttown, was found dead by hanging in a vacant barn about a mile from the scene of a $6,000 fire that destroyed Thompson’s barn. Rosendale had been missing since the fire on October 27, and was discovered by Nelson Cooke. Police say the body appeared there for several days. Rosendale, once from Lisle, had worked two years for Thompson and left the employer’s house two hours before the blaze.
