Acton will be represented in the Tri County Midget Hockey League this year with home games at Milton arena. The schedule opens Monday November 9 at Milton, with matches including Acton, Milton, Oakville, Brampton, Georgetown, and Acton to Milton in Milton.
The Wellington No 2 Teachers Institute convened in Erin on October 1 with participants from Eramosa Erin Guelph Pilkington Puslinch and Elora. Guests included Toronto speakers and local educators who led workshops and demonstrations before announcing new officers William Weadick as president and Winston Watt as secretary treasurer.
The Tri County Minor Hockey League season begins Monday at Milton Arena with a four juvenile and five midget entries. Milton faces Acton in the midget section, Georgetown plays Oakville, and Milton Sportsmen meet Brampton. Georgetown replaces Orangeville in Juvenile. teams from Milton Acton Georgetown Brampton Oakville participate. Home games use Brown St Arena for Malton and Oakville.
J R Persons becomes manager of the Refractories Division of H. K. Porter Company Canada Ltd effective October 1. He formerly was district sales manager for the Buffalo area and has extensive experience in foundry and refractories industries. The Porter group operates 51 plants across the United States Canada and Mexico serving multiple divisions and products.
Mr and Mrs Frank Brown of Limehouse announce they will be at home to relatives and friends on Tuesday November 10 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9:30 PM to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.
Toronto couple Nancy Bernice McCombe and Arthur L Swackhamer reveal their engagement. Arthur is the son of Stanley Swackhamer and the late Gertrude Swackhamer of Acton. The marriage is planned for Saturday, November 7 in Toronto.

She led TV coverage of the 4 cent Canadian Congress in Vancouver and worked with the University of Toronto physiotherapy staff on music therapy initiatives.
The Moffat Smith Bell reunion dance occurred at Brookville Hall on Friday October 22 with a waltz won by John Elliott and his partner from Galt. In church on Sunday Linus Wayne McMillan and Landa Anne McLeod were baptized. Visitation at the McMillan home included Florence Robinson Thomas McMillan and others from Guelph Georgetown Burlington Acton and Nassagaweya. Sympathy is extended to Mrs Robert Eustace on her husband’s sudden death.
Hi Y members discussed plans for a future variety show at the Regal meeting on Tuesday evening. The group agreed to consider sponsoring the event and to invite a guest speaker for the next meeting.
During the fall season a high school prank involved painting goal posts in blue and white at Georgetown high school field. Earlier incidents in Milton and Acton mirrored the act with students vandalizing posts and confusing rival crowds. A clash occurred between Milton and Georgetown fans with verbal exchanges and one student reportedly slipping during the confrontation.
Nassagaweya Native W Near honored at a retirement dinner and dance marking 48 years of service. Guests from Waterline and Willan Martin Near attended as part of a community event celebrating long service to Canada.
