Acton trustees W G Mason Dr F G Oakes and W H Clayton attended the November session chaired by G A Dills. The board noted inspector Jennings would visit soon and that October public school fees were paid. Subscriptions to Safety League bulletins and Encyclopedia Britannica were approved along with liability insurance through Lumbermen’s Insurance Co. Repairs from Halloween damage were completed and billed. Several suggestions for field day were recorded for later action. Police investigate damage at Dublin Cemetery where twenty headstones were knocked over and some broken. The act, reported this week, is believed to have occurred about a week ago and condemned as a low mentality crime against pioneers buried there.

Halloween Party at Anderson Home by Baptist Society
The B Y P U members and friends held a Hallowe en Frolic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E N Anderton on Tuesday evening November 2. Meeting of United Church Women Plans Bake Sale
The regular monthly gathering of the Women's Association of the United Church met at Mrs. Ivan Harris's home. Mrs. Harris presided and Mrs. F Cleave led the devotional. Residential Property Sold to Become Apartments in Renovation Plan
Mrs. Annie M. Johnson sold the front house on MUI Frederick and Hower Avenue to Mackenzie and Sons with plans to remove rent control and convert the site into self contained heat apartments. The building has a long history with early doctors and remodels, including Dr. McGarvin era. The sale was negotiated by F. L. Wright, a carpenter and builder's clerk, who trained with the firm after World War I. Red Cross sent Monday shipments from Acton HQ: 10 sweaters 20 gloves 10 helmets 10 scarves 26 socks.

Ebenezer Anniversary and Church Supper Held This Week
The Ebenezer United Church anniversary was held last Sunday with Rev. J. B. Moore of Milton as guest speaker. Music came from Ebenezer Choir in the morning and Lowville United Church Choir in the evening. The event was successful with excellent finances. On Monday November 1 the annual church supper drew a large crowd and generous Thankoffering. Addresses were given by Rev. C. L. Poole of Moffat and Pastor Rev. R. W. Pickersgill. An evening program featured local talent.

The United Church Young People held a Hallowe en party Tuesday evening with costumed attendees. The Acton Public Utilities Commission held a regular meeting chaired by C. M. Hansen with Y. R. MacArthur present. A petition from Kitchen ee Hydro asked the commission to endorse a plan with a reserve of not more than 30 percent of depreciable plant costs. the rest would be a rebate. The petition was tied. Fire destroys Georgetown Lumber Co mill in town center
A four hour blaze gutted the Georgetown Lumber Co sawmill opposite the post office, with extensive damage to nearby lumber and supplies. Firemen battled intense heat as embers drifted toward Credit Valley, and officials said replacement would be difficult amid wartime shortages. The two story mill, 36 by 70 feet, housed irreplaceable machinery and will slow local lumber production for some time.
