Four to five hundred attended the arena event where a life size parade, costume prizes, and broom ball entertained despite rain. Mrs Elizabeth Mills Waterton Passes At 71 In Acton

Word arrived in Acton of the death of Mrs Elizabeth Mills Waterton aged 71 formerly Miss Elizabeth Mills born in Esquesing Township. She leaves husband John Waterton three daughters and five sons two brothers and two sisters. Also reported death of Mrs George Cook née Minnie Adams of Acton survived by husband George N Cook two grandchildren one brother Neuman Adams and two sisters. Funeral was held and burial at Fulton Street Cemetery.

Pioneer William McEown of Macaulay Township Dies

Last Monday death claimed 73 year old pioneer William McEown of Macaulay Township. He died after collapsing at home while preparing for supper. Funeral was held Thursday at St Thomas Anglican Church with Rev J S Smedley officiating. Interment in Church of England Cemetery. He was born in Halton County and helped build the Northern Pacific Junction Railway before settling in Muskoka. Longtime Acton Resident Mrs John Thomas Dies at 90

Mrs. John Thomas aged ninety died last Wednesday at the home of her son in law Howard Masales Mill Street Acton after a gradual decline. Born in Perth County she lived in Acton over forty years and was predeceased by her husband ten years earlier. Four daughters survive including Mrs G Thurston Mrs B Merritt Mrs H Masales and Mrs A White. Funeral services were held Friday at the United Church with Rev C L Poole and interment in Fairview Cemetery. Floral tributes came from family and local friends.

Public Utilities Commission Sets Accounts At Fortnight Session

The Public Utilities Commission met on a Tuesday evening with Commissioners L G King I J Kerr and Reeve Thetford present. They approved paying hydro accounts and various suppliers while resenting Hydro-Electric Power Commission over exchange costs and transferring 1000 to the General Account. The meeting also covered arrears, two services on Young Street, transformer pricing for emergencies and a pump house repair inspection.

Mrs. [Name] longtime Norval school staff member who taught in Toronto and Norval Presbyterian Church died after a monthlong illness. Anniversary of United Church Observed in Acton

The eighth anniversary of the United Church in Acton was observed with full congregations at both services. Rev John Little of Rockwood delivered sermons on Home and Repentance, highlighting family life, obedience to God, and the need for the altar in the home. Knox and Baptist congregations joined, Mrs Dale of Toronto sang, and a liberal anniversary offering was collected.
