Empire Day Concert Draws Capacity Crowd in Town Hall
The annual Empire Day school concert hosted by the LO. D. E. filled Town Hall with a full audience. Principal D. A. MacRae chaired as pupils performed songs, solos, dances, and a forty-voice choir, with prizes awarded for rooms and individuals including best all round girl and boy of Acton High School. A moment of silence honored Mrs Moore and the festival’s founder. Earl Rowe addressed Georgetown Club members at a Monday meeting with local officials in attendance.

Man Hurdles Platform Rush as Train Pulls Away
A middle aged man sprinted onto a station platform just as a train began to depart, his overcoat open and breathless. Bystanders, including a youth, shouted a quick farewell and relief at the close of the run.

A meeting of Acton Free Library Board approved the hearse in connection with new quarters in the Murray Memorial Y M C A building. Authority was given for the Chairman and Secretary to sign the agreement. Losses in connection with the building have been argued and approved. A local baseball fan claims El Waterhouse hit a 490 foot home run at Acton Park. The ball landed on Lake Avenue lawn near H Y G Fraser. A separate accident west of Acton on Main Bros farm damaged a truck driven by Pred W Stull of Guelph. steering trouble suspected and Traffic Officer Howell investigated with a court charge against the driver.

Local Child Hurt After Porch Fall On Tin
Two year old Chester Stachniak son of My Stachniak of Crescent Street suffered facial injuries after sliding from the back porch onto a rusty tin. Cuts around the nose and mouth required seven stitches. The child is in pain but progressing satisfactorily.
