School Children Visit the County Council Last Week
Fifty four boys and girls from across the county visited Halton County Council for the regular monthly meeting. Roy Smith and Miss Maxted supervised. Warden Cleave welcomed them and outlined a luncheon and building tours. Officials spoke on safety forestry health and justice. prizes were announced for essays on the visit. budget approvals and convention attendances were noted.

Jackets Awarded to Acton Juvenile Hockey Group Winners
Recognition was given last Friday at Teen Town for Acton Juvenile Hockeyists, who were last season group champions. Each player received a blue jacket trimmed in red and gold with a championship crest. Presentations were made by Dr G A Slirs with Harold Townsley replying for the team. Officials Ray Mason John F Royston Harry Holmes and Ivan Harris attended. The boys expressed delight with the new jackets.

Ladies Night Acton Y's Men Held At Golf Club

Pretty May Wedding At Acton Home Last Week
A quiet May wedding was held Friday May 14 at four o clock at the bride’s parents home in Acton. Margaret Joan Rumley of Acton married Harold Gar field Floto of Guelph with Rev J M Anderson officiating. The bride wore pale blue lace with finger length veil and pink rose corsage. Bridesmaid Wilma Staniland wore yellow with a sugar rose corsage. Groom’s brother Jack Floto was best man. The couple will reside in Guelph after a wedding trip to Northern Ontario.

Wanted by Police Sideswipes Car on Highway
Tebow of Sackville Street Guelph arrested after allegedly side swiping a car on No 7 Highway east of Acton near Sixth Line causing about 200 damage. He did not stop and Fraser of Streetaville reported the incident. Tebow faces two charges and is in custody.

The 65 year old broadcaster known as the Mayor of Little Places passed away after a prior illness. He was president of a small town radio program and had been preparing for a weekly overseas broadcast scheduled for today. The longtime newspaper man touched listeners nationwide.

Foreman Dies at Work on First Day Back
Armas Jackall foreman carpenter on Wartime Housing in Acton for George Construction Co died suddenly at work Monday morning after returning from a rest for a heart condition. He resided at 548 Spadina Ave Toronto and his body was taken to Johnstone & Rumley Funeral Home before Toronto transport. Rotary Club plans July 1 observance in Acton.

Acton's new theatre the Roxy opened with the feature film Mother Wore Tights in Technicolor. Halton Music Festival Draws Large Crowds and Talent
The Halton Music Festival at Knox Presbyterian Church Milton drew big attendance over two days with rural and urban pupils competing for county honors. Judges Lloyd W. Tufford and Maj. Brian S. McCool praised the performances. Miss Jean Chester of Georgetown won the festival scholarship for 1947.
