Norval Mills and the Credit River Legacy
Hurricane Hazel devastated Norval in October 1954 by wrecking the Old Mill Dam on the Credit River, ending centuries of water power. The piece recalls James McNab’s 1820 settlement, the mill’s rise and several owners, a 1930 fire, and Norval’s early industry and community life including post office founder Colonel Wm. Clay and local tradesmen.
