Special Mothers Day Service at St. Davids Church
On Mother's Day a service at St. Davids Church featured Rev. G Baulch in charge and a children’s choir led by Miscahiniey Chester. Margaret McPhail aged 10 sang, and the theme God Speaks Through Christian Homes used a flannel graph to illustrate Bible homes. Attendance was good and church school superintendent Mr. Murray McPhail and Mr. Wilfred Greenlees helped with readings. The St. Davids Girls Group met in May at Mrs A T Moore’s home with prayers, reports, a hymn, and games ending with the Lord’s Prayer. The note ends with a line about today's Canadian railroads diesel locomotive capable of 5,000 miles of continuous operation.

Lilacs Laburnums and Birds Across Canada and England
The piece recalls lilac and laburnum blossoms in England and wonders if laburnums and wallflowers will grow in Canada. It contrasts Canadian flora like trillium with English favorites, and laments winters for cowslips and bluebells. It reminisces skylarks nightingales cuckoos and a WWI memory of Zeps and a comforting song, ending with admiration for a Globe and Mail tale about an immigrant boy and the skylark.
