Acton Wins Halton County Musical Festival Trophy Again
Acton School led by Mrs. M. R. Moore and accompanist Mrs. W. Gowdy retained the festival trophy for most points, the fourth year of wins in five. Victor Bristow won Boys Solo. Acton achieved top marks in multiple choirs and solos, with awards announced by judge Peter Kennedy at Milton last Friday.

SPECIAL MEETING OF ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP COUNCIL CONTRACT AWARDED
Eramosa Township Council met May 15 with full attendance at Councillor Stewart's home. The crushed gravel contract goes to John McLaren of Rockwood at 45c per yard. The council also decided to insure against road accidents with W McEnery of Erin Consolidated Fire and Gasalty Co. for 150.15. Other payments include F P Gcieve sheep valuator 2.80 and H Billingsley gravelling 15.00.

Tragedy Strikes Acton Home In Knife Attack
Yesterday morning at their Church Street residence John Collins attacked his wife with a knife inflicting serious injuries and then died from the same weapon. Mrs Collins was taken to hospital in Guelph with three knife wounds to the breast and a severed tendon in the right arm. The couple’s two sons were at school and two other relatives from Guelph were notified. A coroner’s jury was empanelled and adjourned for two weeks.
