Acton Court Hears Gas Theft Case and Jail Term
Joseph Warburton of Hamilton jailed six months determinately and six months indeterminately for attempting to break a gas pump on the highway near Bronte. Frank Gow, owner of the car, was found nearby and claimed the vehicle had been stolen, clearing Gow of complicity. Elderly Miss Agnes Perryman sustained a fractured limb from a fall at 2 John Street last Friday evening and was taken to Guelph Hospital in critical condition after care from Mr. H. N. Farmer. Women’s Institute officers elected. President Mrs J E Gamble and a full slate named with committees for next year.

Train Wreck Near Guelph Damages Cars and Ties Up Line
A Sunday freight derailment near Guelph Ontario involved six flat and box cars after a draw bar failed. Five cars suffered severe damage, three box cars were demolished, and the line to Toronto was blocked until a Stratford auxiliary crew cleared the wreck by night. The engine and rear cars remained intact and no serious injuries were reported among the crew. Two transients riding in a car near the pile-up narrowly escaped harm.

Acton Council met in regular session with Reeve Thetford presiding. A deputation from the Acton Fall Fair Board urged continued or increased grants. the council set a 1933 grant of 150 dollars with 100 for park and arena rental. The Baseball Club requested a Hall rental refund and park use. council approved the refund and a nominal 1 dollar Saturday park rental while allowing full park control during games.
