Nearly 460 pupils watched Milton High prevail over Georgetown Acton and Erin in the annual North Halton school athletics meet in Acton. Milton captured senior honors with Terry Walker and the school trophy, while Georgetown topped in some open events with Bill McCormack earning the Tom Watson trophy for the half mile.

Fine Concert By Acton Citizens Band Debuts At Roxy
The Acton Citizens' Band under Bandmaster A. Perrott gave its first concert Sunday at the Roxy Theatre Acton. G. W. McKenzie served as MC while the ensemble played O Canada hymns waltzes marches novelty numbers and an overture. Two Choirs Earn Festival Seconds at Halton Music Festival
The 20th Halton Music Festival held at Knox Presbyterian Church on May 10 and 11 featured high marks for all contestants. Adjudicator George Smale praised the difficult test pieces and the strong singing from high school choirs. Solo winners Shirley Forbes Marjorie Scott and David Pawson performed on Thursday evening, with Georgetown High School Girls’ Choir presenting two non competitive numbers to close the event on Friday afternoon.

A P Green Co Product Cradles Huge White Hot Ingot
A 30 000 pound white hot alloy ingot traveled from Sydney Nova Scotia to Trenton Nova Scotia in 22 hours in a cradle made from A P Green Co factory product Eastalite. The ingot cooled from 1700 degrees to 1500 degrees with minimal loss and the cradle remained undamaged. The steel plant superintendent praised the product and planned continued use.
