Acton loses its last blacksmith shop as James Gilmour sells to Liovoyd Bulmer of Toronto and Ken Darch of Grand Valley. They plan Acton Auto Body offering auto repairs painting and welding. Gilmour has run the shop over 25 years and retires.

Nassagawesa Township Council met May 3 with all members present. W M Vansickle presided as Reeve. Accounts totaling 106 dollars were approved and the road superintendent's voucher for 613 dollars was authorized. A resolution appointed the assessor as delegate to the assessor's convention in June. North Halton High School Area Board members discussed school accommodations. A bylaw authorized expenditures for additions to Milton and Acton High Schools. Weed cutting on township roads and other work were discussed. Road inspection date set. Council adjourned to meet May 31 at 8 p.m.
