General Election Postpones OMEA Meeting
The Acton Public Utilities Commission held a Tuesday meeting chaired by C. M. Hansen with Reeve F. J. McCutcheon and Commissioner J. R. MacArthur present. A letter from Cooksville Utilities reported wire theft and asked the commission to watch for it. An OMEA letter said a general meeting would be postponed due to the election. Several reports noted transformer work, water service to Mr. Tarzwell, and an easement secured on Cameron Street. Bills and arrears were reviewed. payments listed for Hydro and Waterworks departments including H.E.P.C. and Canadian General Electric.

Knox So-Ed Club Concludes Season With Social Night
The Knox Church So-Ed Club ended its season with a social night hosting the congregation. Betty Sinclair June Lindsay duets, Barbara Anderson Joan Hodge and Betty Sinclair choruses, and Mrs Turner Churchill Mrs Bowen contributed solos. Knox Ladies Quartet and Concert Troupe Male Quartet performed with piano and autoharp accompaniment. Reverend Anderson sang Scottish songs, a Newfoundland film was shown, and a lunch followed. The new club has earned high value among church activities.

More Storage Space Is Built at Acton Flour Mills
Mr D W Lindsay has excavations on the west side of Acton Flour Mills for storage elevators. A large bank section has been cut away but quicksand and securing a solid foundation caused difficulty. The mill has steadily expanded with a large storage elevator completed last year.

The closing banquet of Kaen Y Ps 6 on Monday April 26 featured Miss N Anderson as principal speaker. New Foundry Rising Near Acton Machine Shops
Acton prepares a new 15N feet reinforced concrete foundry building beside Acton Machine Shops. Kenneth Blow moves equipment from Peterborough foundry to the Acton site. A five ton overhead crane is to be installed by Meartis Crane Co. and steelwork by Hamilton Bridge Co. Construction is advancing with footings and crane track in place. The project aims to boost Acton’s industrial activity and support local machining operations.
