Ernest Seysworth was arrested for criminal negligence after a highway crash that killed Lenne Watines of Preston. He drove the truck involved in the Barnes car collision and was released on $3,000 bail. the case was heard in Acton Police Court before Magistrate Bull.

Car Smashed Hydro Pole West of Acton
A car owned and driven by Sam Sabra of Guelph was wrecked on the highway west of Acton Tuesday night after colliding with a hydro pole. Four power interruptions were reported in Acton as the car travelled from Guelph toward Acton, with extensive damage to the vehicle but minimal windshield damage. Sabra and his son were involved. Sabra suffered a head injury and was taken home by a passerby, while the son was bruised but not severely injured. The wreck was investigated by local officers and the machine towed to Guelph. the damaged pole was replaced the next day.

Work of Halton Peel Children's Aid Inspector's Report
The Halton Peel Children's Aid Society outlined changes including closing the Milton Shelter on September 1 1936 and placing wards in boarding homes. The report shows 156 cases handed 80 new 17 reopened and 50 carried over plus notes on a juvenile placed in a boarding home and improvements in behavior and belonging. Additionally end year totals show 104 children under care, and branch data cite 14 cases from unmarried parents 41 new cures 7 re fane and 46 active from prior year.

Coronation Day Parade and Service Planned in Acton
Acton prepares a coronation day parade forming at the Town Hall at 10 a.m. proceeding along Mil and Mary Street to the religious grounds. Rockwood to Have Speed By Law Passed
The Rockwood township council met May 3 in the Town Hall with full attendance. They amended By-law No. 1 1937 naming John Henderson as Sanitary Inspector, discussed appointing Frank Day as collector for 1934–37, set a 25 to 30 mph speed limit for the Police Village of Rockwood, accepted John McLaren’s crushed gravel bid, planned a 2 mill township levy for 1997, and invited council to a Coronation service at United Church. Accounts totaled $509.89. meeting adjourned to June 7.

Teachers Are Offered Increase in Their Salary
The May meeting of the School Board reviewed salary increases for staff with general raises and singled out Miss Jackson for a $50 yearly rise to align with peers. Teachers at the Public School would receive $25 raises for the new school year. The board approved book requisitions, discussed modernization including stokers, and commended staff after a musical festival. Public thanks were given to citizens who lent cars for pupil transport.

Injury After Fall on Church Street Leaves Woman With Fracture
Mrs. Wm. Kenney slipped while pinning clothes on a reel at her Church Street home Monday morning. She sustained a left limb fracture after falling from a platform to the ground. An ambulance rushed her to General Hospital in Guelph where doctors report her improving progress. Friends wish her a speedy recovery.
