County Council Increases Grant to Red Cross Branches
Halton County council debated a grant boost for Red Cross branches, finally approving 1000 to be divided among Acton Burlington Georgetown Oakville while an amended 2000 was defeated. The Lorne Scots Regiment and Band receive 600 and 400 respectively as part of the funding package.

Halton Seed Show Draws Farmers Despite Fewer Entries
The Halton Seed Show held last weekend in Milton attracted many farmers from across the county. While grain entries were strong with about 4 000 bushels on display, small seeds were light. A new display on labor saving farm equipment drew interest as auctioneers sold oats and barley in ten bushel classes. Speakers Edwin Yarrop and Dr. G T Christie praised Canadian farm output during wartime, noting substantial gains in bacon, eggs, and other farm goods amid manpower shortages and urging further increases in 1943.
