Sateen Club Meets At Y On Saturday
The Sateen Club holds a social evening at the Y with 35 in attendance under Mr Ken Allen. Guests from the Guelph Y were entertained and Inter Y basketball was added, locals winning by a good margin. The club plans a visit from Central Y of Toronto and the Model Aircraft Building Club draws about 20 boys since two weeks ago. Planes, plaster modelling classes, and leathercraft instruction are being developed.

Nineteen Nurses Capped at Guelph School of Nurses
Jean Armstrong of Acton was among nineteen nurses capped after a six month probation at the Guelph General Hospital School of Nurses. Town Agrees to Buy Hickey Pumper for Fire Dept

Murray L. MacDonald son of Mrs R MacDonald and the late Mr MacDonald of Acton was advanced at the Detroit Bank annual meeting in January. He progressed from Acton Continuation School to Walsh Institute and University of Michigan Extension School before joining Bank of Montreal and later Detroit Bank. He held various posts including assistant manager at Grand River Trumbull, branch manager Hamilton Collingwood, and assistant vice-president in 1945 before his recent promotion. He serves as past president of the Detroit Chapter of the National Office Management Association and trustee and assistant treasurer of the American Cancer Society Southeastern Division, and trustee of the Detroit Institute of Cancer Research.

Moffat Man Buys Top Irish Cattle
Grant Campbell of Moffat returned to Canada from Ireland after purchases at the Royal Ulster Show in Balmoral. He paid 8 guineas for a 10 month old Shorthorn red bull and 60 guineas each for twin dairy heifers that won the show’s best pair award, plus 48 guineas for a roan heifer. Campbell said there is a good market in Canada for British Short-horns if the right type is produced.
