Diplomas and Awards Presented At High School Commencement
Four former Acton high school students received honorary and graduation diplomas at the annual commencement Friday in the public school auditorium. About 200 attended the program, with Glee Club selections, a dance, and awards to multiple students for scholastic and field-day achievements. Barbara Turner was valedictorian and many students received intermediate certificates, diplomas, and scholarships from local organizations and the Lakeside chapter.

Acton Win Official Annexation Award After Board Decision
The Ontario Municipal Board officially awarded Acton 465 acres in Esquesing township after a January 18 public release. No objections were filed by Esquesing township, and Acton’s clerk reported no order yet received. A minor two car collision occurred nearby on Saturday at Third Line and No 7 Highway with estimated damage of 175 dollars.

Robbery Foiled at Acton Post Office by Quick Police Action
Mrs Leishman alerted police when burglars attempted to break into Acton Post Office. Constable Harness and Corporal Mason redirected the intruders as they fled through back yards. The thieves left a damaged safe, torch gear, and about $1 in cash while money orders remained untouched. Three men were detained for questioning after fingerprint work.

Local farmers met at Acton town hall on Friday afternoon to form a new Ontario Farmers' Union local. President A V McCormack missed the gathering due to influenza. Shelburne farmer and union director spoke, outlining the union's 1952 Grey county origins and rapid growth toward 10 000 members. Members enrolled after the session and questions were addressed by Mr Morden.
