Shep the Clever Dog Helps Move Holstein Cattle
In Bethel township a trio of Holstein heifers escape and trek thirty miles homeward with a loyal rescue by a skilled cattle dog named Shep. Steve Bates owns the dog and is suspected of aiding a scheme to move the cattle for resale, aided by farmer Homer Powers and Ford Spencer. The missing beasts are recovered only after a lengthy chase, revealing a southward route and the dog’s crucial role in herding the herd back toward home.
