The Council of the Township of Eramosa met at 1:30 on June 6 in Rockwood Town Hall. Fourteen appeals on assessment were heard, the assessor’s valuations confirmed. two properties added to the roll and eight dogs struck off. A delegation urged immunising children against diphtheria and scarlet fever, to be considered with a systematic pupil programme and cost sharing. The 1938 township rate was fixed at Vig mil. Costs for cleaning a ditch near lot 19 were settled with Wilfred Plewelling. General matters and accounts totaling 697.02 were discussed before adjourning to July 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Prisoner Escape From Milton Jail
William Moore 30 of Toronto escaped from Milton county jail after authorities say he climbed a 20 foot wall with improvised tools. He was jailed on forgery charges and awaiting trial at Milton Sessions. prior sentence in Toronto sent him to Kingston Penitentiary. Moore’s escape occurred after Sunday midnight and was not detected until around 8 am Monday.

The June Acton Woman's Institute gathering at Mr and Mrs Hugh McCutcheon’s farmhouse featured guest speaker Mina Sybil Bennett Georgetown barrister who spoke on criminal laws and the Salvation Army’s role in women’s police court work. Members donated to a Park bathing house project and discussed meat or cookery or whole wheat offerings. Miss Blanche McKinnon and Miss Dorothy McKenzie from Ospringe performed vocal duets. A social half hour followed with a luncheon provided by the social committee.
