Norman Gibson 28 son of Mrs. John Gibson of Acton has auditioned with the Kneller Hall bandmaster in London England. Enlisted in London Ont three months after war began joined the ith Field Ambulance and went overseas in August 1940. In January 1943 transferred to a Canadian division's band and has toured England entertaining at army camps. He is noted as a fine tubist and baritone soloist with early roots in Acton School and the Acton Citizens Band.

Drowned teen Frank Melsaae in farm pond near Acton
Frank Melsaae aged eighteen drowned while swimming with his brother James on Alex Joe's farm four miles south of Acton. The body was recovered later that night by Officer Mason with aid from trade officer Ray Mayon and Chief Harrop. Coroner Dr. Stevenson examined the body and the cause remains uncertain.

Knox Sunday School To Mark 100th Anniversary
Knox Presbyterian Church Acton Ontario marks the 100th anniversary of its Sunday School with June 6 1943 services. Rev John R Wardle of London will preach at morning worship, Mrs Ann Somerville of Toronto will lead the vocals, and the Junior Choir directed by Mrs Clarence Coles will perform in the evening. An informal 4 pm service and 5 pm buffet supper follow. The Sabbath School organized in 1843 by John Burns and colleagues led to a church within two years and a frame church built four years later. The current school lists 120 scholars and 10 teachers with Wm Benson and Clarence Coles as superintendents.
