Dominion Bank notes grim prairie crop outlook in monthly summary
The Bank of Montreal reports in its monthly Dominion conditions summary that industrial production remains high and mercantile demand holds, but Western crop prospects deteriorate. Grain yields are forecast at about 150 million bushels with Manitoba 26 million, Saskatchewan 60 million, Alberta 64 million, leaving under 56 million for domestic use after seed needs. Heavy rains relieve feed shortages, giving some relief to drought areas and signaling possible grain production later.
