A J Baynton from Moffat awarded the Military Medal in recognition of distinguished service in Northwest Europe. Born 1917 at Maple Creek Saskatchewan he enlisted February 1941 and served with the Canadian Armoured Corps overseas. His wife Mrs Esteen Baynton resides at 92 Lough Street.

Two Farmers Injured While Haying District Field
Two farmers in this district were injured while weathering the hay crop on Saturday evening. Herbert MeMememis, 43, of Route 11 Clenwilliams, is critically injured with a ruptured lung after being thrown by bolting horses. James Cree, 2d of Rept. 2. Acton, fell from a load of hay with broken ribs, but his condition is reported as favorable.

Robbers used heavy hammers to raid four Georgetown offices over the weekend, netting about 225 dollars in cash and several money orders and postal notes. They damaged but did not steal at the NR office, seized around 125 dollars at Dominion Seed Hall, and took 100 dollars at Federal Sales Manufacturing Co before ransacking JOT Mackenzie Lumber. No theft occurred after the final break in, and authorities led by Chief William Marshall and Constables Mervin Rabb, Thay Mason, and A R Lemon investigate.
