Urban courts in Oskville and Bartington set for Friday and Saturday. Eligible electors not listed may vote by oath with another elector's witness. Must be 22, a Canadian citizen or other Finnish subject, and resident in Canada for 12 months.

Two Acton District Men Injured In Motorcycle Crash
Two Acton district men were seriously hurt when their motorcycle left a soft shoulder and plunged into a ditch near Silvercreek four miles east of Acton on No 7 highway about 3 a m Sunday. George Allan 27 of PLR 3 Acton was taken to Guelph General Hospital with a possible broken neck Ted Cole 22 of RR 2 Acton was hospitalized with severe head injuries and a dislocated shoulder X rays showed no fractures both were listed in satisfactory condition. Poison ivy can be controlled by spraying a solution of 3 parts common salt in a gallon of slightly soapy water.

Miss E Hawthorne Honored on Radio Program Roses from Rose Brand
Miss Emma Hawthorne, called a "good friend and neighbor," was honored on Alan Maitland's Roses from Rose Brand on CIBC. Mrs. Frank Wale of Orangeville had her letter selected for the program praising Miss Hawthorne's neighborly deeds and her work with the Women's Institute and church groups. Two Polio Cases Reported in Halton County
Halton County Health Unit disclosed this week that two polio cases have occurred in Burlington this year. Both patients are young children. one case has produced no paralysis. In 1952 six polio cases were reported with no fatalities, and 21 cases were recorded in 1951.

Rain Forces Acton Picnic to Arena as Storms Hit
Summer storms drove the Guelph Association Baptist Young Peoples Union picnic from the Acton site to the arena last Saturday. About 75 attendees from the district joined in games and races directed by Bill Currie of Hillsburgh. Supper came indoors, and some swam in the pond despite the rain. In the evening the group met at the Baptist church basement with Doug Peck, eastern division president of the association, in charge for devotional time.

Rev Currey Tells Of Home Missions
The Woman's Missionary Society of the United church met in the church school room last Tuesday evening. The study titled Lord of the Lands make Canada Thine Own guided worship led by Mrs Currey with scripture read by Mrs Bennie and responses sung by Miss D Simmons. Rev Currey spoke on Home Mission work, shown slides of the work and Canadian scenes, and Mrs Mowat thanked participants as the meeting closed with prayer.

Seek Larger Share Fines Committee To Investigate
Councilor Lindsay urged a larger share of fines returned to the town noting only about 60 dollars out of 300 in magistrate fines came back. The police committee was tasked to investigate distributions and sources to present a satisfactory answer. The council discussed pool plans, financials, and park facilities with junior pool supervision and potential building of a larger pool.
