Big Entry in Races Held Here Saturday Afternoon
Twenty five horses came to Acton Park on Saturday for a trot and pace meet sponsored by Acton Branch of the Canadian Legion. Purses were 200 each with betting and refreshment booths. Winners included Iroquois McKilop driven by Harry Ingles and Dan McKinney driven by Alex Wittam. An exhibition game followed between Faris Court of Toronto and Acton Intermediates, then a crowd attended an evening dance with Stewart Elliotts orchestra.

Acton Boys Band will present another Sunday evening concert at eight o clock from the band stand in Acton Park. Led by Mr. Chas Mason the group has developed fine organization and deserves support and generous applause from appreciative attendees.

Welcome Home Acton Sailors Return From Service
Able Seaman Tom Atkifaven returns after five years in the Canadian Navy aboard the SS Warrior. He plans to settle in Acton with his wife awaiting reunion. Two other Acton servicemen, Sgt H C Rourke and Pte J Mellor, arrive home aboard the Georgia this week. Mrs Douglas Price and baby daughter are due to arrive with husband in December after five years away.

Brawl at Royal Cafe Leads to Fines in Acton Court
Three Acton Police Court cases stem from a Royal Cafe brawl last Saturday. Albert Carter, 16, on probation and $41 costs for assault on Jin Lee. Gervels Querry, 20, remanded for sentence on disturbance charges. Harvey Hurren, dismissed for disturbance due to no intoxication. All sentences linked to intoxication incidents. Chief E Harrop filed the charges.

Fire of Roofing Material Threatened Freight Cars
A barrel of roofing material caught fire last evening near the Mason Knitting Co. plant. Fire Brigade arrived quickly and extinguished the blaze without damage to the adjacent box cars or building. Workmen were applying roofing material when the outside material ignited, posing explosion risk and possible spread.

Series of Motor Accidents But None Seriously Hurt
A week end of motor car collisions across the district left no serious injuries. Fred Black’s car left the road near Brampton, both Black and Frank Donnell injured lightly and taken to Brampton Hospital. Other crashes involved Fred McGill in Toronto, Arthur Maddow from Detroit, and Harold Killen near Milton, all with damage but no serious injuries. Constable Mason investigated each incident.

Acton Completes Municipal Water Supply Across Town
All parts of Acton are now served by a fine municipal water supply. The Scene Street and Main Street sections faced slow digging due to solid rock. Water was turned into the mains on Tuesday and connections completed, finishing the contract with Knowles Construction Co. within the town limits.
