From July 1 to 8 the town pumped 1,070,000 gallons, a daily 134,000 gallon average, with the spring pump running 14 hours daily.

Century Old Elm Tree Cut Down on Main Street
On Saturday morning Walter Kentner and Fred Stewart felled a large elm on Allan Kirkweas’s Main Street property. The tree stood about 73 feet tall with a stump near 48 inches in diameter, estimated at over a century old. Wires were cleared along Main Street and the drop caused no damage or injuries, amid a loud horn and saw noise.

Ten Days and Hard Labor for Drunk Driving
Edward Nelson ride R 2 1 Acton was sentenced to ten days in jail at hard labor for driving while intoxicated. The Acton Police Court heard the case last Thursday before Police Magistrate Langton. The charge was laid by Niet Harrop and the offence occurred on Knox Avenue in Acton.
