Acton L O L plans a Saturday parade as part of an event described as the Gelt invasion of about 12,000 celebrants. The unit previously won the prize at the Eaton parade, with its head leading the procession. Next year local L O L officials will host the celebration.
Roy McFadden 28 of 121 Poplar Ave. is in satisfactory condition at Guelpin General Hospital after a collision between his new motorcycle and a hydro truck at Mill and Elgin Streets Friday morning. Mrs. Iris McFadden, a passenger, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released. Police reported about 10:38 a.m. and traffic was directed by constables. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at 500 dollars.
Bill Collins and Herb Brown, both 18 from Van Wert Ohio, rested at Mr and Mrs Herman Bessem’s home near Silvercreek on their route back from Expo. They have slept in police cells parks backyards and sheds since leaving June 15 to attend the big fair. They study at the University of Ohio and found lodging in the Bessem residence and a station wagon offer for overnight before resuming home Monday morning. The pair praised the treatment and spoke highly of Expo.
More than 150 children drowned last year due to lack of adult supervision near water. The Red Cross urges vigilance and supervising children every time they are in or around water.

Halton County Council delayed a proposal to unite elementary and secondary schooling under a single board. Oakville Burlington and Georgetown opposed the plan urging further review by a newly named Consultative Committee. If adopted, changes would not take effect before July 1969. About 15 visitors attended, including committee members and county school officials.
Firefighters answered two calls this week. A Thursday fire beside the old post office was blamed on children playing with an old gasoline filled mosquito bomb. A Saturday car fire on the Staten Hotel parking lot was extinguished before the truck arrived. the Tremblays’ upstairs entrance was scorched.
An inquest into the death of Teresa Vanzutyen a five year old Oakville girl who drowned at a recreation park near Limehouse June 17 will be held Tuesday July 18 at the Esquesing Municipal Building. The child was found floating unconscious in the water and revived but died six hours later.
