Barn raising in Nassagaweya links to earlier Halton gatherings
In rural Ontario, barn raisings once defined Halton's community spirit. At Walter Freeman's Brookville farm last Wednesday about 40 volunteers framed the barn by sundown using a block and tackle method, with teams racing to raise joists as a community dance followed. Women helped provide food, ensuring no one went hungry.
