Acton High School Names Two Ontario Scholars
Acton District High School honors its two Ontario Scholars Kathryn Sinclair and Susan Very for top marks in Grade 13. Kathryn, 18, of Glen Williams, holds 89 percent and plans to study English and French at Waterloo University, aiming to teach. Susan, 19, of R R 4 Acton, scored 81 percent, plans nursing at Guelph General Hospital with a Western University Bachelor in Nursing path. Their parents are Norman Sinclair and Russell Perry.

Acton District High School to gain new vice principal office
The County Board approved 1750 in alterations to Acton District High School to create a vice principal’s office and improve efficiency. A wall between the principal’s office and storage will be removed, two new walls built, sliding glass panels added, and the entrance relocated. The plan was approved without comment.

Ideal park plan doubles acreage and shifts lakefront design

Dominion Day Fire Destroys Coulter's Country Market
A blaze on Dominion Day gutted Coulter's Country Market at Campbellville with losses estimated between 75 000 and 100 000 dollars. Milton Area Fire Brigade pumped water from a nearby pond as the 100 year old structure burned, six customers and six clerks inside, while residents escaped from two upper apartments. Police logged minor incidents elsewhere as the town recovered from the holiday fire.

M Z Bennett hosts grade eight closing party
The M Z Bennett school held its first grade eight closing party in the new auditorium replacing the old banquet format. Students from M Z Bennett and Robert Little schools earned awards for academics and most improved while Sam Schonnop presented the Imperial Oil trophy to Steven Mellor.
