Bus Service for Employees West of Acton Now Operating
Beartimore and Co arrange a special Acton to Guelph bus service to ease worker commutes. The route runs from tannery gates at 6:15 p.m. daily and 3:35 p.m. Saturdays westbound, serving Acton residents west along the highway toward Rockwood and Guelph. The morning bus from the west arrives Acton at 6:48 a.m. Weekday need rises as housing and car fuel constraints limit local transportation. Other employers may join if space remains after Beardmore Co. employees are accommodated.

Mrs. Elizabeth Jones received a letter from her son Private Frank Jones serving in England. During a blackout in an English city Frank met a fellow soldier who asked for a match. A voice recalled Acton memories and the two soldiers swapped stories of home.

Veteran of Two Wars Dies After Farm Accident
Ernest Snell a World War I veteran who fought in the present conflict and survived Dunkirk died at Christie Street Hospital from injuries sustained on the Herbert McEachern farm near Acton. He slipped while aiding during slaughter, fracturing his right thigh and suffering internal injuries. He had been employed by Robert Kerr and returned to work in mid January.
