Zoning Plan Criticized by Nassagaweya Ratepayers Voice

Nassagaweya township ratepayers criticized a superficial zoning plan that would cost far more than 55,900 as Project Planners prepare a study. Allan Ackman, leader of a new ratepayers association, said background work should have preceded hiring professional consultants in 1965. Reeve William Coulter defended the scope, noting 455,000 acres to cover and that consultants are hired by 90 percent of Ontario municipalities, with local input integrated where possible. Ackman also questioned land expropriation practices, while George Goldstraw recalled past assessor data showing contrasting sale figures against Conservation Authority offers.
