Turkey House Air-Conditioned Brooder Near Vancouver
One of Canada’s largest turkey brooder houses nears completion in a town 28 miles south of Vancouver. Kenneth Hall and his wife, both under 20, purchased 80 acres for the venture after touring farms in Canada and the United States. The 300 by 8 foot building will have an air conditioning system, an incubator with 20,000 eggs, and will produce 1,000 turkeys weekly. Turkeys are housed on wire and slat porches to exercise without touching ground, aiming to reduce disease costs. The broad breasted bronze is the chosen breed. Mrs Hall was the first agricultural freshette at the University of Saskatchewan.
