United Church Choir Feted At Mrs Symons Home
Mrs Janes Symon hosted the United Church Choir for supper on January 17 with about 35 in attendance. R N Baird thanked her for the delightful affair and the annual report was adopted. 1946 officers were elected including R N Baird as president and D Prieatley as president, D Taylor secretary, BY Veldhuls treasurer, and committee members from the Symon household. Even when a small home goes to Pleven the nation feels the bump.

Stewart Lowrie M B E Returns to Singapore
Stewart Lowrie left Saturday to begin his journey back to Singapore after a month visiting his sister in Toronto and his father in Acton. A former prisoner of war, he was freed after weight loss and now weighs 150 pounds. He will travel by boat to Faland for two weeks then fly to Singapore to resume duties with Manufacturers Life Insurance Co. He was honored by the King in England for his services and named a member of the Order of the British Empire. He plans to return to Canada within a year.

Serviceman's Bride Arrives By Plane From England To Acton
The first bride of an Acton serviceman to cross by plane arrived Tuesday night from England. Marie Crump married AC George Hargrave in Leg atone England in April last year. Hargrave had been overseas two years and three and a half years in the Canadian Airforce. He worked with his father at the service station before enlisting. Mrs Hargrave reports a delightful trip by plane and will be joined by friends and family to welcome her to the new home in Canada.
