At the Acton Fire Brigade annual meeting Douglas Dawkins was appointed Fire Chief succeeding William Raoszell. Orville Brown became assistant chief while Ed Gamble and Archie Currie were retained as members. New recruits Bob Foatitt and Ken joined the brigade.

Car Smashed as Transport Sheds on Highway Curve
A collision on No 7 Highway near Acton involved Albert Harris of Acton and a Hamilton Transport tractor trailer. Harris and a passenger were uninjured, but Harris’s car front was wrecked when the trailer jackknifed and blocked the road at eight o'clock Monday morning. The trailer swung across the highway and was righted after striking Harris’s vehicle. Damage to Harris's car estimated around $300.

Halton Registry Office reports record year in 1946
The Halton County Registry Office posts a record 1946 with receipts around 34000, nearly doubling 1941, and about 12000 collected from fees and a tax on deeds. The county forwarded all funds to the Provincial Treasurer in monthly payments, noting more than 1000 additional documents in 1946 versus 1945. Registrar Myrtle Field and four assistants are praised for the year's success.

Four in Hospital After Acton Two Car Collision
Four people were hospitalized in Guelph after an almost head on collision on the No. 7 Highway west of Acton Saturday afternoon. James Wallace of Guelph drove a 1980 Mercury which rolled into a north ditch. L McKenzie of Terra Cotta was the most seriously injured with a broken pelvis and cracked shoulder blade. R O Hube, Ida Ruehle, Herman Winters and his wife and child were shaken but escaped serious harm. Police, including Constable Ray Mason, investigated as debris lay along the highway for about fifty feet.
