Murray C. Smith was elected chairman of the Acton Public School Board at the inaugural meeting held at the Robert Little school. C. W. Bradley becomes vice chairman in 1960. The inaugural Milton County Council meeting set for Tuesday January 19 will be held in Milton Municipal Offices. Clerk Garfield Brown reports Judge W Cory will receive 78 Canadian Citizenship Certificates. Crown Attorney P K McWilliams will administer the Oath of Office and elections for a warden are on the agenda with at least two members bidding for the position.

Diesel Train Crashes Car Into Crumpled Mass on Tracks
A car driven by John Goodridge became wedged on a crossing near Actonamual after wheels slipped on ice. An approaching diesel train skidded, smashing the vehicle into a snowbank as four bystanders raced to move it. No one inside the car was harmed.

Esquesing Council Inaugural Appoints Officials and Approves Borrowing
The Esquesing township inaugural meeting held at Stewardowna council chambers last week includes Edwin Hatrop named to the Planning Board for three years and Wilfred Leslie to Credit Valley Conservation Authority. Wilfrid Bird and Campbell Sinclair receive placements to Sixteen Mile Creek and Grand Valley authorities.
