Lorne Scots Band Elects Officers at Annual Meeting
The Lorne Scots Brass Band held its annual meeting on Tuesday in which officers were elected. Bruce McKerr is president with Norman Marchment as vice president and Douglas Peck as secretary treasurer. Bandmaster Alfred Perrott marks 20 years with the band as it aims for more wins this fall and the Watering Musicat Society Trophy three years straight. Victor Carter and Fred Leace, fellow soloists, are noted gold medalists in their classes.

Family Gathers in Acton to Honor Mrs G Woods Birthday
Mrs George Woods Young Sr. enjoyed a pleasant surprise last Saturday when her daughters sons in law and grandchildren gathered from Georgetown Guelph Hamilton and Acton. The group shared a pleasant evening with lunch served by two granddaughters. A special birthday cake with decorations and candles was presented along with many gifts from family.

The Wo men s Association held its monthly meeting at Mrs F Cleve s home with good attendance. President Mrs J Wilderspin presided. Devotional led by Mrs E A Currey. No church social activities during repairs. Four homes per month for the year. Annual reports showed 400 calls and 100 pieces of mail to the sick and shut ins. Two removals by death and three relocations. Treasurer praised finances and optimistic outlook. Christmas lunch prepared by Mrs Cleave with assistants, social hour and New Year resolutions shared.
