A barn owned by FF Jennings west of Victoria Street on Cobble Hill burned Saturday evening. Firemen fought for 10 hours amid freezing conditions, preserving a tractor but destroying the structure with 15 tons of hay and livestock valued around 7,000. No insurance. Cause unknown.

New Year's Day Road Race Sees City Club First
The Hamilton event saw the Guelph Legion Track Club including Acton members win the junior team prize. Bruce Andrews of Acton finished fifth in the three mile run with Don Proor seventh Art Hackett eighth Ron Nicol tenth. Jim Iriona of Brampton won with a record time of 14 minutes 49 seconds, Ed Graydon of Delta club second and Paul Reynolds of Heh third.

Car Misses Curve Smashes into Ajax Wall
A car travelling west failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into Agee Engineering on Yong Street in Toronto. A passenger suffered a slight head laceration while the driver was uninjured. The 1943 Chevrolet sustained about 500 dollars in damage. the brick wall and steel sash were damaged by 1000 dollars. Mr Kent said braking forced the turn.

Neighbor Foils Early Morning Robbery Attempt

Injured in Accident in Toronto Hospitalized
Mrs J Symon remains in fairly serious condition at St Joseph's hospital Toronto after a Tuesday evening car crash. Mrs Marguerite Taylor and Mrs Mabel Symon have been released from hospital and stay with relatives. The injured Mrs Jo Symon, over 80, required stitches on her face after the collision with a car from Alverta on Bloor Street West.

Shining black plates with white numbers hit the market yesterday as driving licenses for operators and chauffeurs also went on sale at Ro J Margrave’s office. Mr Hargrave issued plate 36 and Orville Duffield quickly claimed 02 0002 for a flat truck license to Gordon Gray of Rockwood. The dealer reported strong first day sales and a January 31 purchase date with no extensions announced.
