Mr and Mrs Edward Widdis of Erin Township were notified Tuesday that their son Private Errol Widdis had been killed in action in Italy at age 21 He was born near Alton and starred as athletic champion of Alton Continuation School later joining the Alton softball team which won the intercounty title He enlisted just after graduation and served on the Pacific and Atlantic coasts before going overseas He leaves his parents a sister and a brother and sister in law in Claud and Erin respectively
