Officer Catches Fugitives After Five Mile Pursuit
Traffic Officer Howell pursued two young men who fled Whitham's service station after taking five gallons of gasoline without paying. The Toronto natives Jack Adams and Steve O'Brien were captured near Ospringe and jailed in Milton on vagrancy charges. A stolen AB 1938 Chevrolet with 1088 plates was recovered from a local garage.

Frances Boles aged 10 and Yan Boles 18 died when their car was struck at the Victoria Road CP Rail crossing in Guelph by No. 649 train. Mother Mrs. W.7F. Boles was injured and taken to hospital. driver of the car and two daughters were from Eramosa, R. R. No. 2. The train was late arriving in Guelph.

Interesting Meeting of the United WMLS Society
The February gathering of the Woman's Missionary Society of the United Church met at Mrs Mason's home with Mrs Mowat presiding. Mrs Caldwell spoke on Good Will to New Canadians and Mrs Cowle on the Ten Commandments of Good Will. Miss Patricia Wood sang, John Mowat gave a Valentine recitation, and delegates were named for Halton Presbyterial in Georgetown. A World Day of Prayer planning session was set for February 28 at the Baptist Church. Rev Dr Morrow offered prayer. The meeting ended with thanks to Mrs Mason.

Three Prisoners Escape From Milton County Jail
Three inmates escaped Milton County Jail after ten p.m. Sunday by breaking cells and climbing to the roof, using a skylight to reach the wall. The fugitives were Harvey Matthews of Simcoe Joe Lazeo of Hamilton and Richard Sharp alias G White of Toronto. Matthews and Lazeo returned to the jail at seven a.m. with their families urging them to surrender. Sharp split from them and is未 believed to be at large. Sharp had been arrested in Burlington on a fraud charge and is described tall with black curly hair.

At the Friendly Circle Class of United Church, meeting at Sylva Morrow’s home, members answered My Favorite Pastime in roll call. Postmaster at Campbellville dies suddenly
Frederic Garrett postmaster of Campbellville died after entering his home Sunday evening. He was born in Nassagawey and served as postmaster for twenty years. A respected church member and Mason, he is survived by his widow, a Winnipeg brother, and an Aldershot sister.

Eramosa Council Discusses Milk Sale and Loss of Councillor
The Eramosa Township council met at Rockwood Town Hall with full attendance. Delegates were appointed to the Ontario Good Roads Association and talks were set to invite a Milk Control Board representative to discuss pasteurization. The council expressed sympathy to Mrs. John Rea on the death of former councillor John Rea and noted his years of service. By-law No 4 naming James W. Benjam as Road Superintendent passed. The Road Superintendent was authorized to attend a conference pending Highway Department approval. Auditors’ report presented and accounts amounting to 758.73 approved for payment. Council adjourned to March 13 at 1 30.
