United Church Annual Meeting Shows Year’s Success
The United Church held its annual meeting last Thursday with strong attendance despite some light notes. Reports highlighted a fruitful year with increased offerings and a rise in church membership by twenty. Officers were elected to the Board of Stewards and Board of Session for three years, and Rev. Valuable Team Drowned While Cutting Ice On Fairy Lake
Mr. R. J. Wallace lost a valuable team of fine black Percherons dragged into Fairy Lake last Thursday afternoon while hauling a town grader to clear ice for Orville Brown. A 14 inch thick ice sheet broke off a 12 foot deep area, drowning the horses and grader. Brown and an employee barely escaped. The tongue remains wired to a tree and the horses cannot be replaced for $500 to $600, a heavy loss to Wallace.

Medallions Commemorate King and Queen’s Canada Tour
Acton school children will receive bronze medallions marking the King and Queen’s visit to Canada next summer.
