County Adopts Road Widening Report and Grants to Oakville Hospital
Ralton county council approved a report on road widening projects and authorized a grant to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital covering county share costs. The plan includes widening Sideroads 8 0 and 25 and the Second and Seventh Lines in Trafalgar, plus a bridge-separation study at the Second Line crossing north of Bronte. The by law also sets raised allowances for the Warden and council members and outlines a 1958 weed-control program.

Pet Fire Sparks Boy Heroism at Crewson’s Corners
A seven year old boy named Dr Kelevy awoke to a fire at A E Kelsey’s home in Crewson’s Corners after a small Collie named Blondie woke his housekeeper with whimpers. The boy ran barefoot with a garden hose to fight the blaze until Acton firemen arrived and contained the flames. Fire chief J Newton cited possible electrical trouble but said damage estimates await insurance adjusters.

Collision on narrow road causes damages near Acton

Model Railroad Club Sponsors Teen Dance at Y
Acton Model Railroad Club hosted a teenage dance at the Y on Friday evening with over 70 boys and a gala. Club members ran the event and supervised records and chaperones and provided a hot lunch of hot dogs and hot chocolate. The Red Cross was to hold a clinic at the Legion Hall today with sessions in the afternoon and evening.

Driver Injured In Car Accident Near Cedar Springs Motel
North I aion District OPP investigated an accident opposite Cedar Springs Motel on Highway 7 four miles east of Acton Monday at 6 pm. A car driven by Jack Crawford of Ray Georgetown lost control on slippery pavement and crashed into a tree, receiving a broken nose and facial lacerations. Damage estimated at $500.

Health unit reports low infant death rate in Halton County

Drama Festival Draws 300 at Acton Junior Farmers Event
The Halton Junior Farmers presented the 1968 Drama Festival at Robert Little Public School in Acton Friday evening. Norval club won best play for This Way to Heaven with Ute Osterman named best actress. Stuart McFadden of Milton earned best actor for his role in Mr Flanagan. The Milton entry This Way to Heaven featured a comic plot with Mr Flanigan and Gram as central figures, ending with a hint of mystery as a demon and heaven-bound angel clash.
