Our farmers are busy with field work and farm deals loom for spring as Mr. and Mrs. McCutcheon host a Ladies Aid event. Young people attend a Rockwood dance while visitors from Manitoba arrive. Local rents, sales, and rentals hint at changes as Wm. Sutton plans an auction and Griffen farm transfers. Harvesting ice supply from the river is noted.
The Free Library Board meets to revert to the larger purchase plan. At 10 2.m last Wednesday the chairman Rev A C Stewart presided with A E Nicklin John Cameron and H P Moore present. Rev H G Baugh resigns due to moving to Stoney Creek and the board thanks him for services. A committee will remove fifty dilapidated fiction books and replace them with reprint editions.
The library will switch to yearly acquisitions after a year of quarterly orders. Readers favored annual selections to expand access during early distribution weeks. A resolution praised library conditions, and Roeve Mazon urged the Town Hall Committee to improve heating and fire safety. The Board welcomes reader-suggested titles for Easter additions.

The Dryden Observer notes the passing of Mrs Erle Kennedy at her daughter’s home in Edmonton after a long life as a pioneer of Acton Ont and Dryden. Survived by three daughters and two sons, she supported church work and local needs, leaving a strong community imprint. Her husband Paul Kennedy predeceased her along with a son who died in France. Funeral held at Dryden United Church with Rev H A Rivers delivering the sermon.
Georgetown intermediate O A team edged Acton 4 to 3 last Thursday night at the rink. Reid Kentnor and N Gibbons starred for Georgetown along with Holloway Blackburn and Davidson who led Acton. Holloway's goalkeeping and a strong final period by Acton kept the score tight as Georgetown held on for the win.
