Two Hamilton men were convicted and sentenced by County Court Judge Robinson in Milton for breaking entering and theft at the Acton mail order store in December. Santa Macalusa got 12 months in the reformatory. Nick Cote received six months definite and three months indefinite. They were part of a gang that broke into the Simpsons Sears mail order office, removed the safe, and ditched it after police chased their car south of Milton. Two others faced related charges. one was convicted on another break in charge, the other had charges dropped.

Ayton Public Schools Board in regular session tonight set an approximate levy of 54500 for 1956 to operate and administer the district. The secretary was instructed to requisition the amount from the council. Last year’s levy was 48584.86. The annual report from Inspector L L Skuce was read and reviewed. The property committee was authorized to arrange with caretakers for a record cabinet. A cheque for 500 was issued to finalize purchase of extra playground area from Baxter Laboratories. The board approved 50 for home economic expenditures and a regular finance statement of 812.33 was presented and paid. Chairman W Wolfe presided. Trustees Heard Watson Bradley and Smith were present.
