Acton Train Crash Halts Rail Schedule Amid Snow
A severe collision between the Goderich Toronto passenger No. 28 and a standing CN Express snarled traffic through Acton. Snow blanketed the scene as crews, including veteran engineer Scotty Davidson, worked to disentangle the two trains and restore service. About a dozen passengers suffered minor injuries. two Stratford residents were hospitalized. A Guelph relief engine and Stratford wreck crew led the recovery, completed late at night.

Farm Home Damaged In Blast At McArthur Farm
Windows were blown out and the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy McArthur suffered considerable damage from a blast on Friday. Visitors stopped the fire before help arrived as Mr. McArthur was in the barn. His wife, ill and disabled by polo, and their three young sons were staying with her parents.

Latest Break-In Through Coal Shute at Ledger's IGA
Intruders slid down the coal chute into Ledger's IGA basement during a recent burglary. They forced open a cabinet safe and two cash registers, found nothing inside, and reportedly used a meat cleaver to break the safe. The cleaver remains missing.

Five Minor Accidents Reported in County District
Provincial Police logged five minor crashes in the district last week. Incidents occurred on the hill along Highway 7 near Norval, near Georgetown, at Moffat, and on the first line Esquesing near No 3 sideround. No serious injuries were reported though vehicle damage occurred. Snowy conditions and slick roads contributed to the accidents.
