Local youth liquor case ends with Turkos conviction
A 17 to 19 year old trio bought home brew from Andrew Turkos on Main Street near the Canadian National tracks. They drank two pints each, one fell ill, and the incident led to Turkos being convicted under the Liquor Central Act despite selling for personal use earlier. He received a two month county jail term. Turkos, married with six children, claimed he intended to help his family and would not sell again.

The sequel to a brutal assault near Acton and Ceatretown at Georgetown arena was heard on January 22. Judge Muirkitrate Mellveen of Owlevile presided with Crown Attorney Dick prosecuting and Leroy Dale for the defense. Percy Waelk barn was convicted and fined $10 plus $209.50 costs. Merritt SHEOO and coats paid $80.15. The charge against Marty Goldham was dismissed.

Kerr Re-elected Chairman of Public Utilities Board for 1931
