Mrs James McLean and her son Donald A express deep appreciation for the kindness and help shown by friends and neighbors during illness and at the death of their husband and father. They say the sympathy will be cherished always.
Prof a N Ruhnke of Ontario Agricultural College spoke at the Halton association meeting in Milton about soil fertility and mineral deficiencies using colored slides. A progress report covered 1939 soil and crop experiments, with plan for a County Seed Fair March 8-9 and a King Edward Hotel display in Toronto. Officers elected: President W E Brecken, Vice President J H Willmott, Secretary Treasurer J E Whitelock. directors include Trafalgar, Victor Hall, W J Lawrence, Reg Smith, Nassagawey George Gordon, J B Ellenton, Lloyd Chisholm, Nelson W J Robert, RB Meatherington, Erin and Branca J B Pearen.
Acton Tanners suffer 9-2 defeat to Elora Rocks as Elora dominates early and late action. Pipher nets for Acton. Niniomzte sustains facial injury, later discharged from hospital.

The Maple Grove Literary Society held a regular meeting in Eramosa with Charles McNabb presiding. An invitation to Bloomsbury Literary Society was proposed, followed by music, a debate on women's vs men's dress sense, a vocal solo, readings, and a play. A box social for the Red Cross raised a splendid sum.
Last Friday the Dublin Literary meeting opened with The Maple Leaf and business. Dr Nelson gave a First Aid talk and performed a piano solo, with choir, readings by Mrs Grant and Miss Sprowl, tap dancing by Somerville, vocals by Black and Sprowl, guitar by Grant, and a final National Anthem.
The Midget Hockey Teams drew nearly two hundred spectators for a Monday exhibition. Canadiens and Red Wings opened with a close 1 0 game until Hassard’s goal. Red Wings then faced Rangers and Leafs winners. Hassard and Keatner added goals in a 3 0 Red Wings win. proceeds funded sweaters for players. An exhibition date is set for February 13 with hopes of players in team sweaters.
